Todd Barry's Miserable Mirth

At his recent Vancouver performance, Todd Barry's comedy was so breezily masterful it feels like nothing should be taken seriously ever again. The show was a hate bath of love, and it seemed to redeem all comedy -before and since.

-is amused by the inexplicable modesty of his career

-loathes the motivated

-loathes pretentious coffee-shop writers (he's the only good one in there)

-loathes Hitler-connoisseurs

-loathes his own attempts to ingratiate self with restaurant staff

-loathes people who clutter up dinner engagements with too many invitees

-loathes obviously disgusting foods

-loathes moral conflation

-loathes ridiculous accusations

-loathes compensation by hotel free breakfasts

-loathes throwing stuff out

-loathes roommates and houseguests

-loathes people who ask for extra napkin with dollar pizza

-loathes germs

-loathes apologizing

-loathes the Boy Scouts organization

-loathes rough massages

-enjoys being mistaken for someone with sports injury

-loathes people who retrieve cellphones from toilets

After his set, you may be reluctant to talk to him cuz there's a good chance he'll loathe you. Maybe next gig you'll be used to it.
